You will learn Low Risk Driving skills and Hazard Perception Skills (Defensive Driving). These are the building blocks of being a safe driver for life.
Low Risk driving is about you choosing to drive in a manner that significantly reduces the risk of crashing and entails:
- Speed management
- Road positioning
- Decision making
- Responding to hazards
Hazard Perception is about you being able to detect and react to any hazards that might arise when you are driving. There are three basic hazard perception skills that good drivers use to stay safe:
- Keeping a safe distance from other vehicles
- Selecting safe gaps when turning, crossing traffic or changing lanes
- Scanning for hazards ahead, behind and to the side.
It takes time to develop Low Risk and Hazard Perception Skills. The best way to achieve them is by getting plenty of driving experience across lots of different driving situations.
You will be given the time and opportunity to develop these skills at your own pace, in a relaxed informal atmosphere. Your driver training course is tailored to suit you as an individual.
Road Ways Driving School encourages a partnership between the driving instructor, parent or supervising driver and the learner.
